How to play
Everything you need to take the grid, from the controls to the tricks that win races.
Start a race
- Open kartoro.com and press Play now.
- Pick a racer name and team (optional) so your times go on the leaderboard.
- Choose a kart in the garage, wait for the start lights to go out, and race 3 laps.
Keyboard controls (computer)
W / ↑ Accelerate
S / ↓ Brake
A / ← Steer left
D / → Steer right
Space Drift — hold, release to boost
Shift Push to pass
C Change camera view
P / Esc Pause
Touch controls (phone and tablet)
On phones and tablets you get on-screen controls: steer on the left side, brake and gas pedals on the right. Turn your phone sideways for the widest view.
Camera views
Switch between driver, chase and top view at any time with C or the camera buttons. Chase view is easiest to learn; driver view feels the most real.
Levels, karts and tracks
Every win moves you up a level. Higher levels bring faster rivals and a new track theme. New karts unlock at Levels 2 to 5, and themes can be chosen once you have unlocked them.
Tips for faster laps
- Brake before the corner, not in it. Turn in once you have slowed down and accelerate out.
- Use the slipstream. Follow close behind a rival on the straight to gain speed, then pull out to pass.
- Save push to pass for the long straights where it gains the most time.
- Drift through long corners: hold Space, then release on the exit for a small boost.
- Stay clean. Hitting walls or karts costs far more time than a careful corner.
